One Essential Key For Running A Thriving Business Is Self ...

Have you ever thought that the way to build a successful web business is through self improvement? If that surprises you, or you find it difficult to believe, then we ask you to suspend doubts for a few minutes. What we are talking about with self improvement is whatever is going on inside people that prevents their success. If something is blocking your success, then you need to learn about it, and find a way to remove it. Changing negative thinking is not simple, but when you can acknowledge your wrong attitude the hard part is over with. When you decide to build an online business, learning to remove the mental blocks holding you back from success, will be the hardest thing you need to do. Let?s talk about a few important items that relate to self improvement and business.

To have the right attitudes to start an online business you should begin a self improvement program. Are you objective, and can you be honest about yourself no matter what the consequences? If you do not have what it takes to make it online, you need to be honest with yourself or you will waste a lot of money. To succeed with an Internet business, you must have the inner fortitude to do what is necessary. An Internet business is not all fun and games, but hard work, and you need to be prepared to work hard. When operating a business, you need to have the courage to make the right decisions. But it is within your reach to find a way to smooth out the obstacles so their interference is greatly reduced if not eliminated.

Using this strategy, you will be able to improve your confidence and business skills as you move closer toward financial independence. The initial strategy that you must implement is never thinking about your lack of confidence in any given situation.

Although you know this negative issue is there, don?t give it any of your attention or energy. Then, focus on one thing you need to do for your business and work on that until it is complete. The goal is to complete the task no matter how much time it will require. After that, pick the next item and continue in that fashion until your project is complete. You will not have a problem focusing any longer by completing tasks that need to be done in this very simple but efficient manner.

Many people are fearful of failing when it comes to business, so let?s start here. We should also accept that this fear can apply to other areas, not just business. If this sounds like you then you ought to think about altering your perspective. You need to embrace the fact that doing things wrong and even failing at things is fine. There isn?t a business out there that hasn?t had a project that hasn?t worked out. At one time or another failure happens to all businesses, so you must accept that it is normal for failure to occur. The most important thing to take away is to learn from it and try again.

Becoming a success in whatever business you choose requires utilizing universal principles and continually improving each day. Those that simply become aware of their thoughts, and what they are focusing upon each and every day, will inevitably succeed.

Power Plants: Could a Rechargeable Battery Be Made from Paper and Pulp By-Products?

News | Technology

Experimenting with plant lignin as a replacement for lithium and other metals, scientists create a rechargeable battery--but much work lies ahead to translate it into a usable power source

Despite decades of predictions that a fully electronic, paperless society is almost upon us, we still live in a world populated with printed documents. This insatiable demand for plant cellulose?based writing and packaging materials may end up having a silver lining: a component for a new type of low-cost, Earth-friendly rechargeable battery.

Researchers Grzegorz Milczarek from Poznan University of Technology in Poland and Olle Ingan?s from Link?ping University in Sweden, have combined a polymer with a waste material from the paper and pulp industry to create a new kind of battery cathode, which today are mostly made from nonrenewable metals such as lithium or cobalt. Specifically, Milczarek and Ingan?s used lignin, an organic substance binding the cells, fibers and vessels that make up wood. Plants are made up of as much as 30 percent lignin, is the second-most abundant renewable carbon source on the planet after cellulose, according to the International Lignin Institute in Switzerland. Each year, paper processing generates between 35 million and 45 million metric tons of a dark waste product known as brown liquor, which is rich in lignin derivatives.

Most batteries consist of electrochemical cells with two electrodes?an anode and a cathode?and are filled with an electrolyte. The aggregate effect of the chemical reactions taking place within the electrolyte creates a flow of electrons between the anode and the cathode, resulting in the discharge of electricity.

Milczarek and Ingan?s combined lignin derivatives with a polymer known as "polypyrrole" to make their test cathodes, which varied in thickness. The insulating qualities of lignin derivatives combined with the conductivity of polypyrrole create a composite material that effectively holds an electric charge, according to the scientists, whose research appears in the March 23 issue of Science.

The inspiration for the research came from the process plants use to convert light energy to stored chemical energy. In photosynthesis, electrochemically active molecules known as quinones transport electrons and protons, Ingan?s explains. Animals also make use of quinones in metabolism, "to build the pH gradient which drives synthesis of ATP, or adenosine triphosphate," he adds. If nature could create such a renewable metabolic process, the professor of biomolecular and organic electronics reasons, why not consider it as the basis for charge storage in a renewable system?

The researchers have much work ahead of them, and Ingan?s cautions that it is premature to compare their prototype battery system with inorganic two-electrode batteries fabricated with metals. "There are many things to do in order to improve the charge density of the electrode, which is what we are doing now," Ingan?s says.

The biggest disadvantage to the proposed approach, however, is that the electrodes lose their charge within hours when they are idle. The researchers hope that different types of lignin derivatives could solve the problem. Given the diversity of plant life on this planet, there is no shortage of samples for the researchers to study.

(AP) ? Tebowmania's headed to New York, and the drama has already started for Jets fans.

It began the moment the Jets pulled off the deal for the Broncos quarterback. Or thought they did.

Eight hours and one huge snag later, the trade was on again. But not before the Jets added to the franchise's already lengthy list of embarrassing moments.

Sure, Tebowmania is coming to New York, but it certainly wasn't a smooth deal. And it didn't come without some controversy ? something this Jets season could be filled with the moment Mark Sanchez struggles and restless fans call for Tebow to replace him.

"Mark Sanchez is, has been and will be our starting quarterback," general manager Mike Tannenbaum said on conference call late Wednesday night.

But the Jets have opened themselves ? and Sanchez ? to added pressure by bringing in Tebow. New York recently signed Sanchez to a three-year contract extension after falling out of the hunt for Peyton Manning, a vote of confidence for a quarterback whose pride took a serious shot at the end of last season as the Jets finished 8-8 and out of the playoffs. Some players questioned his leadership abilities, but Sanchez recently vowed to be the guy the franchise can lean on.

Turns out, Rex Ryan's Jets now have two of those guys, including one in Tebow who might automatically be the biggest star in New York right now. Not Sanchez. Not Derek Jeter. Not even Jeremy Lin.

"I'm just excited for him and to see what he does," Lin said in Philadelphia, where the Knicks beat the 76ers. "We'll see what happens next year."

Just a few weeks after "Linsanity" swept New York and the rest of the NBA, "Timsanity" now will take over New York after the Jets acquired the polarizing quarterback and a seventh-round draft pick from the Denver Broncos for fourth- and sixth-round picks.

Hall of Fame quarterback Joe Namath, who led the Jets to their only Super Bowl title in 1969, was among many who were unhappy about the deal.

"I'm just sorry that I can't agree with this situation. I think it's just a publicity stunt. I can't go with it. I think it's wrong," Namath told 1050 ESPN Radio on Wednesday. "I don't think they know what they're doing over there."

The trade was completed hours after the sides initially agreed to a deal, which was hung up when the Jets balked at repaying Denver more than $5 million for a salary advance due Tebow. The two sides agreed to split that cost, and Tannenbaum said the team was "comfortable with the compensation."

He said there was a disagreement about how to handle the salary advance after Denver received the papers.

"We knew what the contract was," he said. "We had read it. ... We felt it was one way; they felt it was another. Based on that, they were well within their rights to assess their different possibilities of what to do and their alternatives. And they did so throughout the day."

So the Jets waited and waited ? and looked as if they had botched the big deal.

Despite ultimately pulling off the trade, it's just another bizarre moment for the Jets, conjuring memories of Bill Belichick's hiring as coach and his resignation one day later.

"I'm thankful they stuck with me through this whole crazy process," Tebow said, repeating several times that he was "excited" to be a member of the Jets.

But the deal also raised questions about the Jets' commitment to Sanchez, who received a $40.5 million contract extension, with $20.5 million guaranteed, earlier this month. During a call late Wednesday night, Tannenbaum repeatedly referred to Sanchez as "our guy" and the team's unquestioned starting quarterback.

"We obviously know that Tim has a magnetic following," Tannenbaum said. "We understand the popularity of the backup quarterback, and this one is more unique than others."

Tebow said he had a "great conversation" on Wednesday with Sanchez, adding that they've been friends for several years. He said he's not here to take Sanchez's job, but to help him as a unique addition to the offense, someone who could run Tony Sparano's wildcat package ? and anything else they ask him to do.

"My goal is to push (Sanchez) to get better, and to push myself to get better every day," Tebow said. "But I think we'll have a great working relationship. We'll have a great relationship off the field, and we've had that the last few years. He's such a classy guy and handles himself so well, and I'll be very honored to call him my teammate."

Defensive end Mike DeVito is excited about the intangible qualities Tebow will offer.

"You've got a tough player on the field, a leader in the locker room and a guy who shares the faith that I share," DeVito said. "So, I'm very grateful to have him on our team, and I feel it's going to really benefit us as a whole."

But, like Namath, not everyone's a fan.

Cornerback Antonio Cromartie, took to Twitter on Wednesday to express his confidence in Sanchez and the offense as structured before the deal was finalized.

"Y bring Tebow in when we need to bring in more Weapons for (at)Mark_Sanchez," Cromartie tweeted. "Let's build the team around him. We already signed to 3 year ext."

The Jets signed Drew Stanton last week to be their No. 2 quarterback, ahead of Greg McElroy, the team's seventh-round draft pick last year. Tannenbaum said Tuesday that he was confident in the trio, but on Wednesday acknowledged that the team would assess that situation and that Tebow was Sanchez's clear backup.

Regardless, the Jets sure got the headlines and were the talk of sports radio ? even on a day when the New Orleans Saints received unprecedented punishment from the NFL for a bounty system that rocked the football world. Head coach Sean Payton was suspended without pay for next season, and former defensive coordinator Greg Williams, now with St. Louis, was banned indefinitely.

But even all that couldn't overshadow another embarrassing episode for a franchise that has had to explain away several missteps in recent years.

The Jets are hoping Tebow can help change all that.

He led the Broncos to the playoffs last season ? along the way beating Sanchez and the Jets, who missed the postseason. But Denver executive John Elway believed Manning gave the team a better chance at winning a championship now. For the Jets, Tebow adds a unique dimension to the offense.

"It is very clear: They want me to come in and compete and get better, and get better as a quarterback and to help the team any way possible," Tebow said. "Whatever that role is, I will do my best."

Tebow also provides a solid presence in a locker room that was rife with infighting last season ? particularly between Sanchez and wide receiver Santonio Holmes. He also brings with him a flock of fervent fans for reasons that have to do as much with his faith as his football skills. A devout Christian, he's been a role model since his days at Florida, when he led the Gators to two national titles and captured the Heisman Trophy.

Denver started shopping Tebow after signing Manning, and the Jets were considered a long shot as late as Tuesday night. But New York went hard after Tebow.

As part of Tebow's $11.25 million, five-year contract he signed as a rookie in 2010, he had a $6.277 million advance due 29 days after the start of the 2011 league year. That money was paid to him in August after the NFL lockout ended. The trade stalled over the payment the Jets would owe the Broncos from that advance.

That allowed Jacksonville to get back into the hunt, and it came down to the Jaguars and Jets.

"I think we have a duty to consider all avenues of improving the Jaguars on and off the field, especially given the unique circumstances involving the player," Jaguars owner Shahid Khan said in a statement. "I am very satisfied with the outcome."

Tebow said, contrary to some reports, he didn't have final say in where he was going.

"Ultimately, I really didn't have any because the Broncos had all that power," Tebow said, adding that Denver was "gracious" in the way it handled the process. "I was just kind of watching and waiting ? kind of like everybody else.

"It was an interesting day."

The Highly Sensitive (HSP) Introvert Survival Guide to Weddings ...

A Highly Sensitive Person is someone who is vulnerable to being overwhelmed by the chaos and overstimulation of normal life, and is frequently misunderstood or mislabeled as being shy or "weird". A surprising 15-20% of the population share the characteristics of an HSP. Dr. Elaine Aron has written extensively about highly sensitive people; it was through her website that I first found this explanation for why I am the way I am.

To make things even more intense, I'm an HSP who is also an introvert. Even though I really enjoy being around people in certain circumstances, in general the experience drains my energy and I need to balance people-time with lots of alone time to recharge and feel centered.

For an HSP Introvert, weddings and family get-togethers are a uniquely potent blend of heaven and hell. Here are my survival tips for my friend and all you HSP Introverts out there:

1) Have your own space

If you're staying in a house together, be sure to have your own room and beg/bargain/barter/bribe to have your own bathroom. This will go a long way. I can't emphasize enough how important it is to have some kind of space that you don't share with anyone. My family gathers once a year in my parents' vacation home and after trying to weather this once like a "normal" person (had my own bedroom, shared bathroom), this year I rented a hotel room nearby and OH what a difference it made.

2) Offer to help

You can create little islands of alone time in a crowd if you offer to help, specifically with chores or errands that can be done solo. Clear off the dining room table or wash dishes while everyone else has gathered for after-dinner drinks. Offer to go pick up some last minute groceries by yourself and when you do so take a small detour en route to park somewhere where there's a nice view; alternatively park anywhere and put classical music on, recline the seat, close your eyes and just breathe.

3) Look after your health

HSPs do worse and get more easily overstimulated and stressed if we're not taking good care of ourselves. During a time like this more than ever you need to make sure you get enough sleep, eat well and eat regularly to keep your blood sugar steady (stay away from the sugary treats), drink lots of water and exercise (see tip #4).

4) Plan in Solo Exercise

One thing I do when I'm on that family vacation is get up before everyone else and go for a nice long solo morning walk. It relieves stress and really centers me, not to mention the exercise is good for those highly sensitive nerves.

5) Avoid long car trips with people

There are very few people in this world I can happily spend hours in a car with. It just gets to be too much, especially if they like loud obnoxious music or subjects that I find stressful. On my last family vacation I agreed to go along on a lunch jaunt that should have only taken a couple of hours. People decided last minute that they wanted to run extra errands en route, and then we got stuck in traffic because of an accident. The whole thing took over six hours. I love my family, but I was close to losing my mind by the time we finally got back home. When I get stressed like that (put in a small enclosed space with five other people for six hours) I start acting weird and saying things I wish I could take back later. Not my idea of fun.

6) Ask to (or try to) sit next to people you feel relaxed with during meals

I don't know about you, but this HSP Introvert loves chatting with people I enjoy and feel safe with. I get really drained trying to make forced extended small talk or conversation with someone I don't know or don't appreciate much (to put it nicely). Ask the organizer nicely if it would be possible to seat you with person X, Y or Z. If you have the opportunity to choose where to sit as people head to the table, don't be shy about grabbing a seat next to the most ideal dinner companion(s), or asking them to come and join you.

7) Watch out for alcohol

I've learned very specifically from these family trips that it's best for me to avoid drinking, as much as I love a glass of wine. If I've had a glass or two I get rattled easier, my buttons are more easily pushed, and I'm apparently more prone to meltdowns and saying things I'd be better off not saying.

8) Have your own transportation if you can

I didn't do this on the last family trip but will do it for the next. If you can afford it or arrange it, it's priceless to be able to just pick up your keys and head out when you've reached your limit. Waiting for someone else to take you home when you're worn out and tired of talking, listening and smiling is not a good thing (and can lead to aforementioned meltdowns or inappropriate/unhelpful statements).

9) Grab some "fresh air" whenever you need to

Finally, If you've got nowhere left to go and feel your nerves, mind and emotions hit overload, step outside. Sit on the stoop and breathe, go for a little walk around the block, go out on the deck and look out over the view.

Go into any wedding or group gathering with a plan and these tools in your toolkit. Cultivate an awareness of when you need to use them, preferably long before you desperately need to! If you take action sooner than later (i.e. before aforementioned meltdown) you will not only preserve your own sanity but will help preserve these important relationships as well.

(A final note to my friend: Have a fantastic wedding, I am so happy for the two of you, I am so glad to know you and count you in fondly as a true friend on this earth - you're one of the good ones and thank you so much for everything!)
